D I S A P P E A R I N G - "Untitled"

(Ratskin Records)

Untitled, the latest harsh noise project from Los Angeles based artist Rain Lucien Matheke under the moniker of D I S A P P E A R I N G is a 20 minute exploration of a dark and twisted world filled with shadows, plumes of smoke and deep, continuous roarings.

The first track, The Shell, Decayed, is much like crouching at the base of a massive cement pylon while an apocalyptic force scrapes all life from the planet in a thundering surge of violent fury. There is a wildness to this noise that breathes life, as if the destruction itself is a living being, but there is also a great deal of intricate control, creating nuances and subtle details within the whirling chaos.

In the second half of this piece, the body, disposable, we can hear the first great wave of catastrophe pass over us. In the interim - are there human voices? Are there other witnesses to this great upheaval of existence? Before anything can be discerned, the great awful force has returned to complete its grim task. Once again the listener is plunged into the deep rumblings, a balance between chaos and control.

Untitled by D I S A P P E A R I N G leaves us awed and altered, pondering death and loss - What is it that has disappeared? Was it the very earth we stand on? Was it the distant voices, silenced forever by the almighty cacophony? Or was it our own fears and limitations, burning away? Are we now emerging on the other side as victorious survivors of a trial by fire?
